You are in the middle of furnishing and decorating your bedroom. You’ve decided on the color and bedding of your choice – periwinkle blue Egyptian cotton sheets with matching covers and pillows, all with high thread counts – but now you need to decide on what you should put at the end of your bed. Ideas range from ottomans, a bench, a mid century chair, or perhaps a mini dresser. Or perhaps you’ve been wanting to put a mini fridge there to keep your drinks cold or to reach for a midnight snack. If you’re looking for something elegant, chic or practical, this article will provide you with ideas on what you can put at the end of your bed. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired and find the right pieces to make that dream bedroom come true, without breaking the bank in the process.

Bench

Many of us dress in either our bedrooms or our bathrooms. The problem is that sometimes we need to be able to sit down, and there aren’t any places to sit. Of course you could sit on the bed, but sometimes a too soft mattress makes it difficult to put on socks or pants. Here is where a cushioned bench comes in.

Not only will you be able to put on your socks or lace up your shoes, you’ll be able to use this bench to store your decorative bedding pieces. Decorative pillows and cushions can be placed here when you’re sleeping. Your dog or cat could also sleep here instead of on your bed as well.

Chairs

It seems odd to place chairs at the end of a bed, but perfectly well sized ones will do the trick. What you don’t want to do is obscure the sight at the foot of the bed. A well placed mid century chair meant for reading can be a great supporting piece. Or if you don’t want something tall or large, you can opt for small stools or chairs without backs.

Storage/Ottoman

The most popular way of decorating the end of a bed is attaching an ottoman or some other furniture meant for storage. An ottoman is ideal because it acts as both a chest, a bench/chair, and decorative piece. Extra linens and pillows can be placed here, or out of season bedding can be placed here as well. Other items meant for the bedroom, like books or robes can also be placed here. I mean, who doesn’t love some extra storage?
