    Inspired by the Live Edge aesthetic of the George collection, this coffee table brings an organic, one-of-a-kind quality to your living room or bedroom. Thick planks of solid walnut with stunning natural grain and a free-form edge create a beautiful table top that is supported by an angular wood base stained in contrasting black finish. The organic character of the wood assures that no two tables are exactly alike. The center split creates a design moment; lightening the mass of the table top. Two butterfuly joints evoke master woodworking artists such as George Nakashima who this collection is named after.

      Why is Walnut the ideal wood for this piece?

      Walnut is prized in fine furniture for several interconnected reasons:

      • Its heartwood ranges from rich chocolate brown to ash grey-black, a color that's both rare and deeply luxurious — most hardwoods are pale by comparison
      • The grain is typically straight but often features beautiful figuring: curly, crotch, and burl patterns that are visually striking
      • It has a natural luster that takes finishes exceptionally well. It's tight pores create a satin smooth touch
      • Despite being hard and dense, walnut is ideal for creating refined shapes and designs. Adapting easily to fine, complex designs without tearing or splintering.
      • It's strong and stable once dried, resisting warping and movement with seasonal humidity changes — critical for longevity in furniture
      • Good dimensional stability means joints stay tight over decades
      What wood finish/color options are availble for this table?

      This is made of solid Walnut wood and is available in your choice of Natural Finish which enhance's the wood's natural color slightly--adding a warm glow--while still highlghting the organic beauty of the Walnut grain.

      Where was this table made?

      We own and operate our wood working facility in China where this piece is made. We purchase Walnut wood from orchards that sell the trees when they are no longer producing nuts. The wood is kiln-dried and each piece is crafted by skilled carpenters. Gingko's Design Office and Warehouse is located in northern California.

      Does this come in different wood finishes?

      The Geoge Coffee Table is made of solid Walnut and available in Natural Finish only.

      How should I maintain a solid Walnut coffee table?

      It is most important to protect the table top from moisture and heat--so we recommend using coaster under drinks and wiping up any spills. If placed in direct sunlight, the wood's color will fade over time. The table top will benefit from regular dusting with a soft cloth and occasionally treating it with a high quality wood oil. The great thing about a solid wood table as opposed to a veneer or pressed wood table is that deep scratches or stains can be addressed by refinishing the table top.

      What's the best way to maintain this table? Do I need to use coasters?

      The walnut table top is finished with protective coat of lacquer and then a natural wax is added for a rich, satin finish. This finish will be damaged by exposure to heat and liquid, so it is important to put coasters under drinks. Regularly dust the table with a soft damp cloth. It will benefit from the addition of a light coat of high quality furniture wax applied once a year.

      When will my purchase ship?

      Orders for Items that are in stock will ship in 3-4 business days. When your order ships, you will receive an email notification and tracking information associated with the order.

      When will my purchase arrive?

      Ninety percent of our items ship via FedEx or UPS. The transit time from our warehouse in Northern California to your shipping address will depend on your actual location but is generally within 3-7 business days.
      Large, oversized items ship via LTL carriers and the transit time is approximately 10-14 days.
      When your order ships, the shiping method and tracking information will be emailed to you.

      What is the warranty?

      Our furniture is built to last. The Warranty Period is one year from the date of receipt. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. If there is a defect in the material or the build of the item, it will become apparnt in the first year of use. This does not mean that you should expect our furniture to last only one year--quite the opposite. We use quality materials and workmanship to produce pieces that will enjoy for many years--some may be passed along to your future generations!

      What if I change my mind?

      We want you to enjoy our furniture and try to describe and depict each piece as clearly as possible. If you recieve your piece and decide it doesn't work for you, it may be returned within 30 days from receipt. The Return Authorization Procedure requires you to notifiy us by email and request authorization. All items must be received in like new condition in order to qualify for full refund of the product cost. Learn more about Returns.
